New Publication in Policy Options: Canada Needs a Climate-responsive Social Safety Net

In this commentary in Policy Options, co-authored with Braydon Wraxall and Dr. Anna Kopec, we present a sneak peek of findings from our research on disaster-driven vulnerabilities. For anyone already struggling, disasters increase vulnerability and the risk of poverty, health crises and death—particularly given gaps and barriers in our disaster supports. We argue that a climate-responsive social safety net is needed to meet the needs and uphold the rights of marginalized Canadians.
